FOLK-POST-ROCK ?

[EN]
5 Paris–based post-rock-folksters morphing from Nick Drake into Mogwai at the blink of a banjo –and of 3 guitars, which helps.

Melancholic or spirited, and mostly both at once, HitchcockGoHome!’s music mirrors both the love of playing and the reflective souls of the 5 musicians, who let voices and instruments play changing roles to suit their fancy. A banjo, subtly expanding density or sudden strokes of the guitars, a bow passed on from hand to hand, rich bass lines, male and female voices that do not mind staying in the background sometimes, add to the uniqueness of HitchcockGoHome!’s style, strong, mellow and/or uplifting, a time-defying blend of folk, rock and post-rock that translates marvellously onstage.

HitchcockGoHome! like to squeeze or stretch simple songs into delicate & complex sonic architectures.
Their critically-acclaimed debut album ‘...Yes you’re dead’, was released in May 2005, by Drunk Dog Records, Paris. The press agreed on the band’s originality, maturity, and ability to create a natural high as well as to write songs one wants to hear at their own funeral (but maybe it is just because of the title).

INFLUENCES

[EN]
The band’s multifaceted compositions owe much to the eclectic range of inspirations and previous band experiences brought in by those 5 singular characters. Above all, and to join them all, a few references stand out : one will indeed picture dEUS, l’Altra, Godspeedyou!BlackEmperor and Arab Strap on top of their CD collections, and notice the subtle but strongly acknowledged influence of Mogwai, Nick Drake, Neil Young, Sonic Youth, Bedhead, Yo La Tengo ….

[FR]
